Der Mangel des Mitochondrialen trifunktionalen Proteins (TFP; TFP-Mangel) ist eine Störung der Fettsäureoxidation. Das klinische Spektrum ist breit und reicht von schweren neonatalen Formen mit Kardiomyopathie, Hypoglykämie, metabolischer Azidose, Skelettmyopathie, Neuropathie, Leberfunktionsstörung und frühem Tod bis zu einem milden Phänotyp mit peripherer Polyneuropathie, episodischer Rhabdomyolyse und Pigment-Retinopathie.
